Prior to that, Ms. Abizaid served the National Security Council Staff as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant to the President and Director for Counterterrorism for Homeland Security.
She worked as the Senior Intelligence Analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Joint Intelligence Task Force Combating Terrorism in the Afghanistan-Pakistan Division and the Iraq/Middle East Division. She served the DIA for 7 years.
She got deployed to several places throughout the Middle East as the senior DIA counterterrorism representative.
If her nomination is confirmed by the Senate, Christine would be the first woman to hold the Director of National Counterterrorism Center.
