Proposed changes to ARFID criteria in DSM-5
An ARFID advisory group has put forward some proposed changes to the ARFID criteria in DSM-5, and there will be a 45-day period in which comments are accepted regarding the proposed changes. The opportunity to provide feedback opens next week (Oct 15, 2018).
The change being proposed is around whether “marked interference with psychosocial functioning” due to a feeding or eating disturbance is sufficient, by itself, to fulfill criteria for ARFID.
A summary of the proposed changes is available at the following link: www.psychiatry.org/psychiatrists/practice/dsm/proposed-changes
