Unseld was picked by the Bullets as the second overall pick in the 1968 NBA Draft while playing college basketball for the “Louisville Cardinals.”
He & Wilt Chamberlain are the only players in NBA history to have won the NBA Most Valuable Player & NBA Rookie of the Year awards. With the Bullets, Unseld won an NBA title in 1978. Also, he served as the Bullets/Wizards’ vice president, head coach & general manager after his playing career ended in 1981.
