He has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering as well as his M.S. in Nuclear Engineering, both from Tuskegee University. He worked at Oak Ridge National Library as a research engineer and served as Acting Chief of the Space Nuclear Power Safety Section at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He then worked for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as Senior Systems Engineer. He has been awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He has worked on the Mars observer project and the Galileo mission to Jupiter. He is involved with energy technology with his companies Excellatron Solid State and Johnson Electro-Mechanical Systems. His company is working on a new generation of rechargeable thin film batteries.
