Name | BC Eating Disorders Community of Practice (CoP) |
Mission | To facilitate knowledge exchange activities for eating disorders service providers including educators, practitioners and clinicians across the continuum from health promotion to prevention, treatment and recovery in British Columbia. |
Vision | An effective, wellness based system of services and supports that span the continuum from prevention to intervention to care and support |
Guiding Principles | Equitable and timely access to a full continuum of programs and services Client & family-centred Open communication, collaboration, and information sharing Consideration for population health lenses including gender, culture, diversity, equity and aboriginal Promote evidence-informed/best or promising practices or approaches |
Objectives | To provide leadership and expertise regarding prevention, education, and service delivery with respect to eating disorders To create linkages between evidence based practice and learning, performance, and outcomes in the area of eating disorders To promote professional development related to new knowledge and research about eating disorders To increase communication and consultation between provincial, regional and community programs regarding service delivery (both public and private) To facilitate ongoing discussions regarding optimal treatment services, coordination of services and the continuum of services To provide feedback and advice on projects relating to eating disorder prevention, education or treatment To provide updates on the development of community programs, services, and projects To share experiences, stories, tools, and methods of problem solving, and insights related to eating disorders and related issues To promote awareness of eating disorders and to promote collaboration and coordination of activities in British Columbia |
Scope | Eating disorders knowledge exchange tools and resources including but not limited to training, links to current journal articles, assessment tools, practice guidelines, research activities, case studies and other resource information |
Reports To | The CoP is a self-governed community. The Provincial Eating Disorders Network serves as a reference group for the CoP. |
Membership | Public service providers who offer and provide services for eating disorders across the continuum. |

Administration | Project Manager, Mental Health Literacy, BC Children's & Women's Hospital |
Communication | Agenda and related materials for review will be circulated one week prior to the meeting Knowledge Exchange (KE) briefings will be circulated one week prior to the meeting |
Meetings | Monthly with additional meetings as necessary |
Attendance at Meetings | Design team members will RSVP with regard to attendance at meetings, specifying whether participation will be by teleconference |
