T. J. Edwards, an American football linebacker with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, was born on August 12, 1996. At Wisconsin, he played collegiate football.
At Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa, Illinois, Edwards was a quarterback. He also participated in three games at Safety during his senior year. He recorded 20 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 sacks, and an interception in his three defensive games.
Despite being a quarterback in high school, he was recruited as a defensive player for college football. Edwards had a commitment to Western Michigan at first. However, Edwards changed his mind about playing for Wisconsin in early December 2013 after Dave Aranda, the Badgers’ defensive coordinator, recruited him.
On May 9, 2019, Edwards signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He participated in all 16 games with four starts after making the Eagles’ final roster to open the new season.
Following a hamstring injury in Week 4, Edwards was put on injured reserve on October 8, 2020. He becomes operational on October 31, 2020. Edwards had a team-high 13 tackles in Week 8’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
He also recorded a strip sack of quarterback Ben DiNucci, which teammate Rodney McLeod recovered and returned for a 53-yard score in the 23-9 victory.
