According to his aunt, Leslie, he was at baseball practice when he collapsed while wrestling with his pals. This kind of incident was usual while playing with a friend, but this time was different since he broke his C5 vertebrate.
Travis suffered a head and neck injury (C4 to C6), which resulted in temporary paralysis of his lower extremities.
After eight hours of spinal surgery, he began the difficult process of rehabilitation. He was transported to TIRR at Herman Memorial in Houston for inpatient rehabilitation after spending two weeks in the hospital.
After undergoing intensive therapy for the past year. Gilmore got accepted to Texas A&M University and spent his freshman year there. He intends to attend in person for his second year in Fall 2022.
Travis just posted on March 12, 2021, commemorating the accident and listing all of the things he has accomplished since then.

Travis also remarked that he sometimes wishes he had more movement and capacity to achieve things. However, he assures himself and appreciates what he has that others do not.
He is now taking part in the Wings for Life run, which begins at 6 a.m. on May 8 all over the world.
