Who Is Chris Karakosta On Growing Belushi?

Chris Karakosta on Growing Belushi grew up working with his father in a Cheeseburger type of restaurant.

Chris was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. But now, he splits his time between Naples, Florida, where his family lives, and Eagle Point, Oregon, where Belushi’s Farm is located.

Later he moved to Elmhurst, Illinois, and all of their cousins were spread out for a while. He stayed with the restaurant business, which his father was in, and slowly learned the business with him.

He then went to college for around one and a half years and left. At the time, his father had two restaurants, and one of them was managed by Karakosta.

Chris slowly got into the business and found his real passion. Later, he moved to Naples, Florida, to help a friend of his work in a restaurant.

By that time, he was married and had three kids at the time.

After working there for around a year, he opened his own restaurant with his family. Following the success of his first restaurant, he built 13 new chains from there.

During this time, Belushi was busy building his home and farm in Eagle Point. Karakosta visited him and learned about his cannabis business, which didn’t go well initially.

He then came for another visit and, this time, talked with Belushi about the business. He found no structure in their process as it was more like a hobby for Jim Belushi in the beginning.

Karakosta started using his business background to help him get organized. And yes, he has been doing so since then.

Jim Belushi Cousin Chris Works With Him

Jim Belushi and his cousin, Chris, dedicated their time to expanding their cannabis business. Their farm is nestled along the Rogue River in Southern Oregon.

They have known each other their entire lives. They were both born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Their dads lived next to each other in a beautiful village in the mountains of Albania.

As their families started getting success, Belushi moved to Wheaton, and Karakosto went to Elmhurst.

They went to new schools, made new friends, and didn’t see each other much. Soon, Karakosta started running his father’s restaurant, and Belushi followed his late older brother’s footsteps and began acting.

Following his father’s footsteps, Chris opened a restaurant with his family and built a successful chain of several restaurants.

Just when Chris imagined his retirement, he visited Belushi’s Farm, which was unorganized and needed some of his expertise. Hence, took some time off his work and helped his cousin Belushi grow the cannabis business.

He then became the General Manager of the business. He was also moved by the healing power of cannabis and the scope of this industry. Chris appears alongside his cousin in Discovery’s Growing Belushi.

Discovery Channel offers a wide range of shows that are equally entertaining. Swamp People, Gold Rush and Curse Of Oak Island are some shows which are totally fun to watch.

Many friends and critics have said, “You stole the show, Chris! You’re so funny.”

Before the release of Belushi Farm Season 2, Chris appeared in the Lit & Lucid Cannabis Podcast.  He shared his background as a restaurant entrepreneur and his journey to becoming GM at Belushi’s Farm.

He also discussed his relationships with his cousin and how they have grown close over time, considering each other brothers and enjoying their time together on the farm.

Growing Belushi Is Back For A Third Season

Growing Belushi returned for its third season on Wednesday, April 5, 2024, on Discovery Channel. You can also stream the series on Discovery Plus and Fubo.

Discovery Channel has also renewed another season of Swamp People.

For Belushi, the show is not just about his foray into the cannabis business in Southern Oregon. The actor turned budding business mogul finds the series also chronicles his growth as a person.

In Season 3, the actor must pick up the pieces after a baffling and mysterious fire burned cannabis worth $500,000. An investigation is underway to find out who or what caused the blaze.

Belushi and Karakosta are on their way to building a new facility to secure their products. According to the star, this time, the comic parts will be mixed with some of the harsh realities facing those in the legal weed business.

He said being in the cannabis business in Oregon is a struggle right now. “It’s a struggle right now in California, and in Colorado. The business is changing,” Jim Belushi added.

Challenges include oversupply, falling prices, and what he describes as “over-taxation and over-regulation.” There is also a decline in tourism related to wildfires in Oregon, which leads to dropping prices.

Another issue for those in the legal trade is the presence of illegal operations, which comes up in the first episode of Growing Belushi’s third season.

By the end of the first episode (Burning Down The House) of Growing Belushi Season 3, fans will find out whether the fire at the farm was caused by arson or other factors.
