James Duckett is facing death row for the murder of an 11-year-old, Teresa McAbee.
In May 1987, Duckett was a police officer on patrol outside a convenience store in Mascotte, Florida. He saw an 11-year-old girl coming out of the store and talking to a 16-year-old boy.
Afterward, the 16-year-old saw Teresa getting in the passenger seat of Duckett’s car. Her body was found in a lake by a fisherman the next day as she was submerged and faced down.
A year after that, James Duckett was charged with sexual battery and the murder of the little girl. He sexually assaulted her before drowning her to death.

James Duckett is currently in jail waiting for the date of his execution.
Even though it has been around 35 years since his conviction, there aren’t any signs of setting his execution date. He was given the death penalty after 14 years of his conviction.
As per reports, there was some ambiguity in the evidence provided against him by an FBI agent. But the jury ruled that it wasn’t enough to keep him out of jail.
